Ian J.S. Mathison

Ian joined Mathison Whittles, LLP, in 2023 after his admittance to the Florida Bar. From the start of his career as an attorney, Ian focused his practice on both residential and commercial real property, both from a transactional side as well as land use/zoning regulations. In addition, he works closely with local municipalities (including Palm Beach Gardens, West Palm Beach, and Juno Beach) on an ongoing basis to advance and accomplish the goals of his clients. Over time, his scope of practice has evolved to include Estate Planning as well as Business Planning, both of which he believes are integral to providing comprehensive legal counsel.

Born and raised in Palm Beach County, Ian earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Thereafter, he worked on the development of multifamily housing projects around the state of Florida, many of which integrated a workforce housing component.

After immersing himself in the intersection of development and land use regulations, Ian attended Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law to deepen his understanding of this field. There, he would go on to graduate Magna Cum Laude and earn CALI Excellence for the Future Awards® (Book Awards) for: Constitutional Law I, Business Planning Workshop, Income Tax Law, and Art Law Seminar.

Today Ian works to grow and shape his community by assisting residents (as well as soon-to-be residents) confidently purchase and/or build their next home, guiding flagship development projects through the approvals process, and participating in local organizations such as the PGA Corridor Association.
